Known as the Roodee, Chester Racecourse is recognised as the oldest racecourse still in operation, with 1539 cited as the year racing first began on the site. Over the years new installations and refurbishments have been carried out to improve and add facilities to the smallest racecourse in England. A retractable, enclosed VIP terrace to the 1539 restaurant and a vast retractable louvred roof enclosure to the new 'Parade' trackside bar & restaurant are just two.
