We use only the finest Scandinavian treated softwood timber decking. As installers of fine timber decking schemes we have to be certain that our timber decking materials are of the best you can buy. That's why we use Scandinavian timber for all of our soft wood decking schemes. The Scandinavian countries emulate our own climate more than any other timber producing areas in the world, so it seems logical to use the timber decking produced in that area.
They have been producing and using decking timber for quite a few years now and we are slowly catching up!
Timber decking has many uses in the garden. It is versatile, and can be used for level, raised or sunken areas, with balustrades added for safety and visual effect.
The timber decking that we use at Crown is tanalised - a special pressure treatment for structural timber, that allows it to be used outdoors without further preservative, and is guaranteed for 15 years against rot - providing that certain operations are carried out in the decking construction.
All our soft wood product have been treated with Tanalith.
It is warmer than patio stones in the winter, and cooler than patio stones in the summer. It will not splinter; it dries out quickly after rain; it is a natural material; a timber patio deck is much cheaper than a normal paved patio, and of course, it comes into its own when differing levels are desired.
All of our timber decking comes from specially planted and managed forests, that are fully sustainable. In these forests, more new trees are planted annually, than are cut down as mature timber crop trees.
