These are a stylish alternative to the more traditional Dutch Blind. Unobtrusive when retracted but most elegant when extended, with or without a valance and the spring loaded blind arms add far greater stability in adverse weather conditions.
The drop-arm window awning is intended for larger window areas in buildings such as private houses, schools, offices, hospitals, shops, restaurants, public houses and similar applications. It can be fitted directly to the wall, beneath the roof overhang or inside a window frame and is similar in principle to the traditional shop blind.
The drop arm is an ideal type of solution where the fixing is not suitable for a foldaway type awning, due to the weight of the unit and the demands they put on the mounting brackets. With the drop arm awning you have multiple fixing points which helps spread the load of the awning if the facia is not suitable to have a foldaway fitted.
The fittings are of extruded anodized aluminium and die-cast aluminium. The arms are equipped with totally enclosed springs for superior fabric tensioning in exposed situations and the fabrics are available in many colours in either acrylic or PVC depending on your requirements.
Standard operation is by an external crank handle. The awning can also be operated electrically, which can in turn be controlled by automatic sun, wind or rain sensors.
The awning housing is manufactured from a one piece aluminium extrusion which protects the blind fabric when retracted; the unit is fitted to the wall on mounting brackets which keeps the cassette virtually flush to the wall for maximum weather resistance. The aluminium profiles are powder coated to a high quality finish in any RAL colour or British standard.
